Jean Vose, Master Gardener and Horticulturist living in Nobleboro, was our guest speaker in November.  She is committed to conservation and other nature activities, an active birder for many years.

Container gardening or pot gardening is the practice of growing plants, including edible plants, exclusively in containers instead of planting them in the ground. A container is an enclosed often portable object used for growing live flowers or plants.  It may take the form of a pot, box, tub, basket, tin, barrel or even a raised garden bed.   She discussed advantages and drawbacks to this kind of gardening.  With the plans for the Memorial Garden for next year, she gave us many suggestions of what would grow best and what to stay away from such as invasive plants, flowers or herbs.

Jean’s knowledge and expertise in gardening and “down to earth” suggestions were just what we needed.   Thanks Jean!
